3/4 sleeves with netted cloth

Garments are designed with a wide variety of sleeves, which differ greatly in look and in method of construction.

The armholes on most sleeveless garments are cut to comfortably encircle the arm with upper edge resting at shoulder point. There are variations , however, of the sleeveless look.

SMOCKING – pineapple design

SMOCKING is an attractive method of distributing fullness at necklines, yoke lines, and sleeves of children dresses.

The amount of material required for smocking is two to three times the width of the finished article.

To do smocking

The first step is to mark on the fabric several rows of evenly spaced dots about 1/4 inch apart. The dots in the different rows should come directly under each other. This can be done by the use if transfers with dots available in shops or using a hand made cardboard gauge pricked with small holes at the intervals required .

Mirror work design

This is an art form in which mirrors of various shapes are fixed on to the fabric through Embroidery.

Mirrors have been replaced by reflective luminescent metal pieces of different shapes and sizes. Mirror work is used on various fabric such as Georgette, crepe, cotton, silk, chiffon and many more which are then turned into attractive apparel.
